Here are the answers to our most frequently asked questions. Didn’t find what you were looking for? Contact us.

What does this app do?

Time Capsule saves entire web pages, including all the graphics and links, and makes them searchable.

If you have problems remembering things you saw on the internet, and Google didn’t help, you should give Time Capsule a try.

Who are you?

By “we,” I mean “me.” I am Zhenyi Tan, the developer of Time Capsule. Hi 👋.

What’s the difference between this and Instapaper/Pocket/Evernote?

Time Capsule is not a reading app. It is meant for saving things you don’t really want to read but might find useful later.

It saves an entire web page, not just the text. So you can use it to save web pages that are not articles.

Also, it doesn’t have tags or folders for organizing your saved pages. Just search, don’t organize.

How do I use it?

  1. Install the Time Capsule app.
  2. Open another app, go to a web page or photo.
  3. Tap the Share button.
  4. Choose Time Capsule. You may need to tap More and add Time Capsule to the list.
  5. Wait for the extension to finish saving the page.
  6. Open the Time Capsule app. You should be able to see the saved web page.

I tried to save a page and it doesn’t work.

Maybe the page is paywalled or requires you to sign in. You can turn on “Save Current Page Content” in settings and try again, or save the page with the browser extensions.

If you think you have found a bug, please email us so we can look into it. However, we cannot guarantee that Time Capsule will work with every site.

How do I sync my saved pages?

Sync is available with the Capsule Account subscription.

How many web pages can I save?

You can save as many web pages as you want, as long as your device has enough storage. But you will probably run into performance issues with SwiftUI if you have thousands of saved pages.

Can I suggest a feature?

Yes. Email us and we will consider it.

Can it save PDF files?

No. Time Capsule cannot save PDF files.

Is there an Android app?

Not at the moment. We plan to have an Android app in the future, but there’s no ETA.

Is there a macOS app?

Not at the moment. You can use the web app on any browser, though.
